Reason for Making It
We wanted to create a hub that has a low friction bearing design, using a straight pull spoke design, creating one of the strongest and stiffest wheels in BMX.
Why it was made this way
We chose straight pull spokes because they are stronger and stiffer than normal spokes. We chose to lace the hub 5 cross because it made it possible to assemble a 36 hole straight pull wheel and it has the same strength of a 4 cross, which is the strongest lacing pattern for a 36 hole wheel. It’s very easy to lace the wheel, just push the spoke into the hub and the spoke goes right to the corresponding hole in the rim.
The hub has a unique thread design that allows the bolts to thread directly into the 7075 -T6 aluminum axle and prevent cross threading in the axle. Our tests have shown that the aluminum threads are very strong so that under high torque the bolt will pull apart before the threads strip out. The hub has unique bearing system that eliminates side load pressure and allows for a very small amount of play so there is no resistance to rolling.
